The estate of the late Elvis Presley has just launched a lawsuit against Arista Music in Germany for unpaid royalties.

Presley’s estate is suing over unpaid royalties that began in 2002 for ringtones, apps, and downloads, as well as exploitation over Presley in a $5.4 million buyout of his catalogue.

According to BBC, the estate is seeking “equitable remuneration” in regards to their 1973 agreement when the Sony-owned label was called RCA.

Presley’s estate claims the agreement was that when the label bought the catalogue, it would be split evenly between the “Hound Dog” singer and his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

However, the lawsuit claims Presley’s earnings are "conspicuously disproportionate" to RCA’s earnings.

NME reports that all in all, Presley’s estate is suing the label for $9 million in unpaid royalties. They are also seeking future revenue until the year when Arista's copyright expires under German law, 2023.
