Eminem is not one to back down from a fight and now it seems as though his second feature film, Southpaw, is back on track due to Sony Pictures picking up the film. The rapper had been attached to this project for a over a year and it seemed as though the film was done when Dreamworks dropped the film in August, MTV News reported.
Pop Crush stated that Antoine Fuqua is set to direct the film. Eminem also had his hand in the screenplay of the boxing film, centering on a boxer who rises to fame even though he is a left-handed fighter.
Production is set to start next year, MTV News reports. This would be Eminem’s second major acting role on the big screen; he first starred in the semi-autobiographical film, 8 Mile. Which received critical acclaim and impressive box office numbers.
No word yet on if Eminem would be adding to the soundtrack of Southpaw, similar to his work on the 8 Mile soundtrack.
