Emma Roberts Is Ready for Her Own Fame
Teen actress Emma Roberts is known for having one the world's most famous aunts Julia Roberts. However, that doesn't mean that fame comes easily for the younger Roberts girl, who's ready to step outside of her aunt's shadow.
According to People.com, Roberts spoke with Teen Vogue about moving past kid movies and her Nickelodeon fame.
"Some people look at me and think, 'She's just Julia Roberts's niece,'" 18-year-old Roberts told Teen Vogue in the upcoming April issue. "So I wanted to do something smaller and edgier, something that would show I really am an actress."
Up next for the young actress is indie flick Lymelife, a 2009 Sundance film that costars Alec Baldwin and Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon. Roberts spent time filming the movie in London, and she describes the film as "'American Beauty' meets 'The Ice Storm.'"
Of course, being a young star in Hollywood does have its drawbacks. "I couldn't take [my driver's test] until I got back," she said.
Roberts is focused on work, but she's also concentrating on the parts of normal life most teenagers look forward to most, from boys to driving.
"I remember being twelve and thinking, I can't wait until I'm sixteen, because then I'm going to have a car, a driver's license, a really cool boyfriend, and boobs." Roberts mentioned that she's looking for a boyfriend currently, saying, "I'm looking to musicians."
Like every other teen girl today, Roberts had a thing for a certain boy bander, but she's not willing to accept any boy. "I used to have a crush on Nick [Jonas], but he's kind of making his rounds in Hollywood, and I don't know if I like that."
