Emmys Have DeGeneres and Ray with Wins
Ellen DeGeneres and Rachael Ray shared the Daytime Emmy spotlight as the winners were announced on Friday. Ray was able to beat out DeGeneres for best talk show who had won the award for the past four years, reported Reuters.
Ray's series was a spin-off from her appearences on the Oprah Winfrey show as well as her own syndicated show on the Food Network.
DeGeneres may have been the upset in the best talk show category, but she was still able to win an Emmy for best talk show host. She was able to win out over the cast of The View, with Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg. She was also able to pull it out over fellow nominees Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa of Live with Regis and Kelly.
Philbin was not sent home with nothing, however. He received a lifetime achievement award for his 47 years in the business. Of her win, DeGeneres said, "I never take this for granted. This has been a crazy year and . . . we've done a lot of crying and laughing, and I cried all by myself and then people laughed."
