Band has history in Dartford

Dartford, a town in the UK just east of London, has named streets after the songs of local heroes the Rolling Stones, the Associated Press reports.

Lead singer Mick Jagger was born in Dartford and met guitarist Keith Richards when they attended elementary school together.

There is a legend in the town that states Jagger and Richards met at a Dartford train station later on and talked about forming a band. The band later became the immensely popular Rolling Stones.

Oakley Hartney, spokeswoman for the Dartford Council, said, "That's the open legend."

The decision to name the streets after the songs was approved on Thursday by the Council and the town couldn't be any prouder to share the history of the Rolling Stones.

"There's a lot of excitement and support for the Stones in the borough as a whole," Hartney said, "Everyone is very supportive and this is a way to celebrate."

Some of the road names will be "Sympathy Street" from "Sympathy for the Devil". Also "Cloud Close", "Rainbow Close", "Dandelion Row" are other song streets. There will be a "Stones Avenue" and "Little Red Walk", which is a blues cover the band did early in their career.

The streets are a part of a new housing development that will include businesses as well in Dartford.
