ER Producers Attempt to Bring Clooney Back

It is still unclear whether or not "ER" producers will be successful in their efforts.

The producers of NBC staple ER are attempting to bring back Julianna Margulies and George Clooney for guest appearances in the show's 15th and final season, TheCelebrityCafe.com has learned.

ER is currently in the final stages of being renewed for their 15th season next fall. The long layoff from the WGA strike has led executive producers John Wells and David Zabel to make ambitious plans for the show's final season.

"We want to revisit characters that have existed on the show over the years and say where they are now," says Zabel about stars like Clooney and Margulies. "We'd love to get them all back in some way, but that doesn't mean we're going to. But we're gonna try."

Zabel has already confirmed that one star will return.

Noah Wyle, who played Dr. Carter, will return for four episodes next season. Goran Visnjic is also expected to reprise his role as Dr. Kovac.

"The toughest will be getting Tony Edwards because his character is dead," says Zabel. "That's a little tricky, but there are ways to do it that we've thought about, even if it were like a lost episode from 1996 featuring him and Wyle."
