Singer charged with disorderly conduct for stripping in public.

It seems that because Grammy-winning singer Erykah Badu gave people an eyeful in Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas, she is now getting an earful from authorities. The singer was shooting a music video last month in which she got naked in public. According to a news release, she stripped in public without any care to other people and or children who were close by.

At first authorities had no problem with her shooting the video, but once it hit the internet and made national headlines, it started to become a problem.

Dallas Police Deputy Chief Mike Genovesi, who oversees special investigations, said a witness came forward Thursday saying that she, “observed Ms. Badu remove her clothing on the public street. The witness had two small children with her and was offended.”

Genovesi said that after consulting with prosecutors, Badu will receive a citation for disorderly conduct. This is about the equivalent of a traffic ticket. City officials add that the video, which was shot in one take on March 13, was done so without Badu acquiring the proper permits to do so.

Badu told The Dallas Morning News that the video was about “liberating yourself” and that it was “a protest”.

The fine for the citation is $500, but given the publicity it has generated, it seems Badu got a good deal on that video.
