European Georgia creates own version of The Simpsons
It's a made-up yellow family in a made-up town but it's not who you think. The Samsonadzes came on to Georgian TV only a couple of weeks ago, but their similarities with the Simpsons has drawn some attention. Shalva Ramishvili, the producer of the show, said that his show is not a cut and dry rip-off of the show, but more like a tribute that will make Simpsons more accessible to Georgian viewers.
There are some differences though. Instead of a cat and a dog as their pets, the Samsonadzes own a parrot. There are only two children and the Homer Simpson character works at a bank instead of a nuclear power plant. And they also feature real-life characters in the show, but ones that are relevant to Georgia. Like one episode where Vladimir Putin sends a secret agent of the Russian intelligence agency to spy on the family.
