Even Greater Pressure Rests on Susan Boyle
So Susan Boyle's got a new haircut? Big deal.
She's pictured on Reuters wearing a flowery dress with a black jacket and a white pearl necklace, looking chic and appearing no different in personality than when we first met her a few weeks ago on Britain's Got Talent, singing Les Miserables' "I Dreamed a Dream."
Then, there were suggestions of Boyle getting made-over. Even talk show host Rosie O'Donnell passed a not-so-friendly remark about the 47-year-old natural singer, citing, "Shrek comes to Life."
Bloggers on various Web sites have posted that Boyle needed her eyebrows trimmed and for her to have surgical enhancements done.
"I know what they were thinking," said Boyle, following the night she became popular. "But why should it matter as long as I can sing? It's not a beauty contest."
That was then.
Now, people say they wanted Boyle to remain just the way she was when she first stepped on stage: donning a slightly tan see-through dress, with agold necklace and white pumps. Now comments read, "you are beautiful just the way you are."
Which is it? The former or the latter?
Simon Cowell said that there are a lot of distractions for Boyle, who has made hundreds of headlines worldwide with her astounding performance.
"Get yourself together sweetheart forthe big one - the semi-final," said Cowell, according to Reuters. "Shut the door, choose the right song and come back as who you are, not who you want to be."
