'Expedition Impossible' Recap: Episode 4, July 14

Joseph Landini
From the ice to a mule

After Grandpa's Warriors took the heli home, it was now time for a new factor of the expedition to begin. Ice.

The teams had to climb an ice mountain to the checkpoint where they would find their first task of the stage. The Gypsies, who have dominated the competition, got the head start as usual. After finishing first and second last week, the Gypsies and No Limits reached the point first, where they found the task.

Each team had to created a large fishing line with a hook to snatch a cage below. In the cages were keys, which opened a box to the next directions. With the task being difficult, middle of the road teams caught up to the front runners. Notably missing were the Country Boys. One of the members had a rough time climbing the mountain, which slowed them down terribly putting them in last place. After finishing first and second again, the Gypsies and No Limits got their keys. They were given direction to run down the mountain now to the ice base camp, where they would spend the night.

The Firemen, California Girls, and the Fab 3 were last to the camp after struggling in a major way trying to catch the cage. California Girls were able to get help from the Firemen so they could finish the leg of the expedition. The night at the base camp was not a joyful one. Teams were complaining, and struggled through the night because of the cold and heavy winds. This did not help the Fab 3 who were already arguing constantly over different aspects of the expedition.

In the morning, the teams were told they would hike over the mountains and out of the snow into a farm village, where they would find further instruction. The Gypsies, for getting to camp first, were given a three minute head start. With most teams being okay with this part of the leg, team Kansas was struggling and had to stop many times. The altitude was making them lose their breath, which made them drop a handful of spots in the race.

The Gypsies, again, were first to the check point. Each team now had to get a farm plow from the village and choose a mule to bring them to the next check point, which was 2.5 miles away up switch backs. The Country Boys fell to last again, because of the hiking aspect, while the rest of the middle of the pack teams were working past them. The Fab 3 continued to argue, as the sister did not want to do certain things, and the brother was ill.

At the top of the switch backs, each team had a labeled Ford Explorer. Each team had to load the plow into the Explorer, and drive to the next location. The next location was a farm land, which had been plowed. Each team had to assemble the plow pieces they brought, and use that to plow up a canister with a map to the finish of the leg. Team Kansas and the Country Boys were now 2 hours behind. The Gypsies, for the fourth week straight, won the leg, followed by No Limits.

The Country Boys, low on morale, were starting to count their blessings as they felt the game was over for them. To their surprise, team Kansas was at the plow fields still plowing. After a quick assemble, the Country Boys were on the fields plowing down. After a few rows with nothing dug up, the Country Boys finally found a canister and ran to the finish, leaving team Kansas in the plow lands, and ultimately being eliminated,
