Extreme Makeover's Ty Pennington Swells Ranks of Stars with DUIs
Ty Pennington has joined the ranks of celebrities slapped with DUI charges. The host of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was nabbed by police on Friday night while driving under the influence of alcohol. The 42-year-old Pennington was caught in the Westside neighborhood of Los Angeles, just past midnight on Saturday morning. The cops promptly arrested the high-energy host and carted him off to jail. A few hours later, Pennington was out on $5,000 bail. His court date for the misdemeanor offense is slated for June 4.
Pennington's proven himself to be a pro at public apologies. He's already churned out the obligatory "I'm sorry" to, well, basically everyone. He admitted he made a mistake, called it a wake-up call and expressed his thankfulness that no one was hurt. He went on, I also want to apologize to my fans, ABC Television and my design team for my lapse in judgment and the embarrassment I have caused."
Pennington transitioned to Extreme Makeover from TLC's Trading Spaces and is also a spokesman for Sears.
