Facebook, The Movie?
Thought you couldn't escape the power of facebook? Well, attempts at avoiding it just got a whole lot harder as the social networking site is on its way to getting the silver screen treatment. Renowned director David Fincher, whose work includes "Fight Club" and the Oscar-nominated picture, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," is in talks to direct a film centered around Facebook founders Eduardo Saverin and Mark Zuckerberg. The film, which is aptly titled "The Social Network," will be based on the Ben Mezrich novel, "The Accidental Billionaires."
Fincher is already considering who will portray Zuckerberg, Facebook's awkward nerdy CEO. Micheal Cera of "Superbad" fame and "Transformers'" Shia LaBeouf are names that have already been thrown around. Facebook has remained mum on commenting about the possibility of such a film.
Nevertheless, Finch is in talks with Columbia Pictures to direct the film and, once green lit, production could begin by the end of the year.
