Family of Dead Woman Sues Michael Jackson

Family claims hospital caused member's death when making arrangements for pop star.

According to Monsters and Critics.com, the family of Manuela Gomez Ruiz, a seriously ill patient who died two years ago, is suing Michael Jackson because they claim Ruiz's death was partially caused by the hospital accommodating the pop star.

Michael Jackson was admitted to California's Marian Medical Centre with flu symptoms, two years ago. Ruiz, 73, had suffered a heart attack and was on life support in the hospital when she was moved from her two-bed trauma unit in order to give Jackson the room, Ruiz's relatives claim. Their lawsuit against Jackson and the hospital states an abuse of celebrity status and seeks unspecified damages.

The family says the incident occurred on February 15, 2005, and Ruiz had a second heart attack the next day, which killed her. At the time, the singer's hospital admission resulted in a cancellation of a court hearing for his child molestation trial.

The medical center did not take the family's lawsuit seriously, labeling it "another frivolous claim to generate publicity."
