Fans Decide What They Pay for New Radiohead Album
On Radiohead's website the message "It's up to you" appears when clicking the price of a download for their newest album. One of the world's most influential rock bands has decided that they will let their fans choose what to pay for their seventh studio album, "In Rainbows." This new album, which will be available from Radiohead.com on October 10th in MP3 format, will present a possible solution to illegal downloading and declining music sales. Because Radiohead is not signed with any record label and is among the few bands whose songs are not available for purchase on Apple Inc's iTunes music store, the decision seems to pose little risk to the members. The group is still planning a traditional CD release of the album in early 2008, and they are also offering a special edition boxed set, which will include two vinyl albums, a CD version of the new album, and a second CD with additional new songs.
