Fantasia Barrino Receives Threats

Boy is it hard to be a celebrity sometimes, especially when you receive threatening letters.

After former American Idol contestant Fantasia Barrino finshed her performance in The Color Purple at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, she opened an alarming letter. While sitting in her dressing room, she read the note full of racial slurs and ill wishes.

The author, claiming to be one of Barrino's past security guards, told her to “go back where you came from and die.”

Despite the threats, Barrino remains focused and positive. “I will not be defeated by one isolated person’s hatred,” she said.

Barrino also talked about her recent experiences on Broadway. “It [The Color Purple] was the first Broadway play I had ever seen and then I end up in it. It’s been a journey. It’s been an experience for me that I won’t ever forget.”

The Color Purple is scheduled to run until February 28.
