Fantasy Football Week 3 Recap

George Daniel Saad
The new first round.

The first three weeks of the Fantasy season has been full of surprises. If we knew on draft day what we know now, how would the first round have looked? Here's my new first round:

1. Ladainian Tomlinson - LT is struggling this season. Of course, struggling for LT is three touchdowns in three games (one passing, one receiving, and one rushing). He's too talented to struggle all year, so I expect to see some multi-touchdown games.

2. Joseph Addai - Everyone talks about how happy Brady is to have Moss, but Peyton Manning seems pretty happy to be able to rely on Addai as a feature back. Addai is more valuable right now than Edge ever was as a Colt and that's saying something.

3. Brian Westbrook - Even when the Eagles play a good rush defense, Westbrook finds a way to get numbers. Plus, his team doesn't have any other playmakers.

4.. Shaun Alexander - When you have a cast on your hand and still manage to be one of the most consistent backs in fantasy, you deserve to be in the top five.

5. Willie Parker - Fast Willie can do everything on the football field. He was a top-ten pick before we knew the Steelers were legit. He has to move up at least three spots now, right?

6. Marion Barber III - He has a nose for the endzone and the Cowboys keep giving him the opportunity to use it. I don't care if he's not technically the starter. When your team is going against Marion Barber III, you're scared.

7. Randy Moss - I know you aren't supposed to take a wide receiver in the first round, but screw it, I think Moss scores in 15 out of 16 Pats games this year.

8. Lamont Jordan - So if you're counting, I've used first round picks on a second string player, a wide receiver that's considered a distraction to his team and an Oakland Raider. But guess what? Jordan has 471 total yards and two TDs in three weeks. Some people say he's been lucky, but I don't believe in luck.

9. Adrian Peterson - In the pre-season, I was afraid of this guy because he was supposed to split carries with Chester Taylor. That no longer appears to be an issue.

10. Frank Gore - I'm not bumping him from the first round after the performance he gave following his mother's death. I know the Steelers made him look bad in week three, but the Steelers might be the toughest team the Niners play all year.

Bumped from the top ten: Steven Jackson, Larry Johnson, Rudi Johnson and Laurence Maroney.

As unpredictable as this season has been, six out of 10 first round picks in the pre-season would still be first round picks today. That's not too bad. The fact that the other four guys are no longer worthy of being picked in the third round is cause for concern. By the way, before the season started, I tried to trade my friend the number five pick (that ended up being Alexander) and my fourth round pick to move up and get Steven Jackson. He turned it down. OK, maybe I believe in luck.
