Fashion Night Out Extended Beyond Shoppers

Friday's Fashion Night Out brought designers and shoppers together in major cities around the world.

Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour came up with the idea to put some life back into the industry.

According to Reuters, more than 1,000 stores and galleries in New York opened their doors to designers, models and shoppers. In Milan, Italy, tens of thousands of shoppers came out to meet designers from Valentino and Prada.

Those who came to Fashion Night Out didn't necessarily come to buy. There was plenty to see, too. Cirque du Soleil performed on Washington's streets, people could take free rides on a Ferris wheel set up on Los Angeles's Rodeo Drive, and Houston converted an ice rink to a catwalk.
