The Fate of Jackson's Estate Will Be Determined in Court, Monday
Lawyers representing Michael Jackson and his family are preparing for a courtroom hearing over who will take charge of the late King of Pop's estate.
A legal expert told Reuters that Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, will possibly be required to abandon the temporary control she was granted prior to the existence of her son's 2002 will.
"Given the existence of the will and the expression of Michael's intentions, the only likely outcome is Katherine's powers will be terminated and she will no longer have any power to deal with the estate," Los Angeles-based family law attorney Michael G. Dave stated on Sunday.
Lawyers for Katherine Jackson, along with co-executors of the will, attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain, are set to meet Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, reports Reuters.
Jackson's will placed his estate into a family trust that is set up for the entertainer's three children, mother, and charities.
Jackson's estate is valued at more than $500 million.
