Have you ever wondered if people pass on their acting talents to their children? Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. In the case of the following father and daughter duos, the talent passed on. Perhaps it was also being raised in the right environment that brought out star quality. Or maybe the genes got some in the door. Whatever the case, the following daughters followed in their father's footsteps.
Paul and Mira Sorvino
Paul Sorvino was one of the original actors onLaw and Order. His daughter Mira Sorvino won an Oscar for Mighty Aphrodite, a film by Woody Allen. Sorvino was actually discouraged by her dad to pursue a career in entertainment. For a while she went to an Ivy League school and learned Chinese, but her love of acting led her to enter the business.
Henry and Jane Fonda
In the 1981 film On Golden Pond, Henry and his daughter Jane played a father and daughter. Both are screen legends in their own right. On Golden Pond was Henry Fonda's last role and the tension in the story was very similar to his real life conflicts with Jane.
Jon Voight and Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie may have a difficult relationship with her father, but they are both Oscar winners for some hard-hitting roles. Angelina Jolie actually changed her name when she began acting to avoid being seen as depending on her father for work.
John and Jennifer Aniston
Soap star John Aniston became known as Jennifer's father in 1994 when the TV show Friends became a cultural icon. Aniston is not the original name of the family, it was changed when they first came to America from Greece. John Aniston was also a close friend of fellow Greek-American actor Telly Savalas. It was Savalas who encouraged his god-daughter Jennifer Aniston to pursue acting.
Steven and Liv Tyler
American Idol judge and Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler is the father of Liv Tyler, his oldest child. Liv Tyler was also featured in an Aerosmith video in 1994 when she was only 17. Liv did not know that Steven was her dad until she was 11 because her mother told her that another rock star named Todd Rundgren was her dad.
