It looks like Hollywood A-listers will not have to worry any more about their nude photos leaking to the general public, at least until the next hacker does it. As for now, the FBI has announced that they have arrested a single man who was behind nude photos of Scarlett Johansson, Mila Kunis and other actresses leaking out.
The FBI alleges that 35-year-old Christopher Chaney from Jacksonville, FL used public information to get to the e-mail accounts of his 50 victims. That allowed him access to the computers and smartphones his victims used, according to TMZ.
Before Chaney’s identity was revealed, the FBI did announce that they believe he worked alone and never asked for money when he distributed the photos, TMZ reports.
Chaney’s arrest actually comes as part of a larger FBI investigation called, appropriately enough, “Operation Hackerazzi,” according to CNN. Many believed that the celebrity photos were a new way for more well-known hacker groups like Anonymous and LulzSec, who are infamous for hacking government and media corporation websites. However, security experts claim that this is not the case and it is just a single actor looking for attention.
If Cheney is found guilty of all charges, he could face as much as 121 years in prison.
