FBI Arrests Blogger for Posting Guns N' Roses Songs
Authorities from the FBI said today that they have arrested a 27-year-old blogger because of copyright infringement. The infringement allegedly stems from the posting of nine Guns N' Roses songs off of their work-in-progess album, Chinese Democracy, on his Web site.
The FBI arrested Kevin Cogill Wednesday morning on suspicion of copyright infringement. They say that Cogill was the one who posted the nine unreleased songs in June.
The songs were soon removed from the site.
According to the arrest affidavit, Cogill admitted to posting the songs on his site, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he will head to jail given the way the Federal legal system operates (especially with issues of copyright, which are usually settled without jail time included).
Chinese Democracy is rather infamous at this point, because it has been the band's work-in-progess for over ten years.
