FBI Releases Michael Jackson Files

The FBI released on Tuesday files kept on Michael Jackson.

Following Jackson's arrest for child molestation in 2003, the Santa Maria Police Department sought federal assistance to prevent a possible terrorist attack instigated by the mass media coverage.

The FBI released 333 pages of a 600-page document after The Associated Press and other media filed a Freedom of Information Act request in the aftermath of the singer's death. Jackson died on June 25 at the age of 50.

The remaining documents were not released to protect privacy and investigative techniques.

The 2003 case was the most recent investigation into the singer by the FBI. Federal agents had been looking into Jackson's alleged involvement with younger boys since 1992.

The file included death threats against Jackson, former president George W. Bush and mob boss John Gotti by Frank Paul Jones. Jones was allegedly obsessed with the singer Janet Jackson. Jones was sentenced to two years in prison in 1993 for mailing a threatening communication.
