Fearless Takes Top Sales Spot
Even though holiday music sales are down 33 percent from this time last year, Variety reports that country music songstress Taylor Swift has been awarded the top sales spot this season. The article goes on to say that Swift's newest album, Fearless, sold a total of 330,000 copies the week before Christmas. R&B singer Keysha Cole's Different Me slipped into the second place slot with an impressive 322,000 copies sold. For Cole, it was a career best; her previous album, Just Like You, sold 281,000 copies in its debut week. Jamie Foxx rounded out the top three with his CD, Intuition, with 265,000 copies sold. Folie a Deux, the most recent record from Fall Out Boy, sold 150,000 while soul singer Anthony Hamilton recorded sales of 133,000 for the first week of his new album, Point of It All. Two more debut albums that topped the sales charts were Da Realist (114,000 sold) from rapper Plies, as well as When the World Comes Down (112,000 sold) from the punk rock band, All-American Rejects. Rapper SouljaBoy opened at No. 43, selling 46,000 copies of his iSouljaBouTellem album. Other returning titles in the Top 100 include Britney Spears's Circus, AC/DC's Black Ice, Enya's And Winter Came, and the deluxe edition of the Mamma Mia soundtrack.
