Federline: I Can Do It Without Britney!

He may be married to a pop star, but Kevin Federline says he can face the music on his own.

Respect me first, says Kevin Federline.

The former back-up dancer, best known as Britney Spears' better half, tells "Newsweek" in this week's issue he isn't afraid of what the critics might say about his first rap album, or his behavior as a father.

The first single off that album, "PopoZao," was released on Federline's website and got nearly 2 million visits during the first week. The album is set to be released in late summer, without any contributions from his famous wife; K-Fed says he's saving those for later.

Federline has taken a beating in gossip magazines for allegedly smoking marijuana in the house he and Spears share, abandoning her for boys' nights out in Vegas and attempting to take Sean Preston to get a tattoo. "If I was that bad [as tabloids allege]," Federline says, "you think anyone, let alone Britney, would put up with it?"
