Feeling the Hollywood Pressures
It is "The Producers" all over again, well, sort of... Coming soon to Broadway, Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick reunite for a "revival" of the Odd Couple. Advance tickets have been in hot pursuit since June 6, 2005 and already, they are sold out, making 21.5 mill. No joke, this performance, beginning on October 4th is going to be a hit. It had better be with ticket sales that big! Both Broderick and Lane are feeling the pressure as the official premiere begins on October 27, 2005.
Another Hollywood player is feelin' the pressure in a slightly different way. Comedian, Albert Brooks, ("The Muse"), has received some bad news from Sony pictures. His latest film, "Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World," has gotten the axe from Sony's list of new film releases and Albert Brooks is not smiling. With a story that revolves around the humorous way Americans portray Muslims, Sony had Janet Jackson/NFL flashbacks and got very nervous. According to Brooks, "fear is playing a major part in Hollywood production." Welcome to Fiona Apple's world, Albert! Her latest album, "Extraordinary Machine," has been behind "Sony bars" for over two years now. However, just as Apple finally found a way to free her album, (released on October 4th of this year), Brooks will hopefully do the same.
And finally, congrats to Nick Cage and wife, Alice Kim Cage, as they welcomed their first baby together, son Katel Coppola Cage into the world early Monday morning in New York City
