Film-maker Guy Green Passes Away

Director Guy Green died at the age of 91, but will be remembered for his great work.

Cinematography Oscar winner Guy Green died at age 91 in his Beverly Hills home.

The director's wife Josephine said he died of heart and kidney failure after lapsing into a coma.

Green began directing in the 1950s, and won an Oscar for the 1946 film "Great Expectations." His other films include "Sea of Sand" and "The Angry Silence," both starring Richard Attenborough.

Profoundly respected, Green was also nominated for Golden Globes for writing and directing the 1965 film "A Patch of Blue," which starred Sidney Poitier.

Green was born in Somerset, and was the cinematographer on nearly two dozen films before deciding to direct.
