First ‘Dexter’ Season Five News
For fans still in disbelief about last year’s Dexter season finale, there’s finally some news on where the series is headed. If you aren’t caught up on last season, be warned. There are spoilers ahead.
Dexter executive producer Sara Colleton told The Ausiello Files that next season will pick up right where season four ended, with the death of Dexter’s wife.
“We have spent the last month sitting around, talking and really debating how best to deal with the aftermath of [Rita's death]. We uniformly decided that we don’t want to jump ahead. We need to see Dexter go through the process that we’d all have to go through if such a horrible thing had happened to us. We need to see him doing everything from the big emotional things like grieving the loss, to the mundane things like arranging a funeral, getting the kids dressed, and all the other things that are usually done for men because their wives or mothers do them.”
Colleton added that this time, there may not be a “big bad,” an adversary that Dexter must deal with for the entire season. She said that John Lithgow, who won a Golden Globe for playing the Trinity Killer last season, would be a hard villain to top. You can read the rest of Colleton’s thoughts on the new season here.
