Fletch brought back to life by "Scrubs" creator

Scrubs creator hopes "Scrubs" star fills Chevy Chase title role

The creator of "Scrubs" is looking to revive the 1980s movie franchise, "Fletch," and is hoping "Scrubs" star Zach Braff will take over Chevy Chase's title role.

Bill Lawerence, "Scrubs" creator, has been signed to adopt the Gregory McDonald, 1985 comic-mystery novel "Fletch Won," for the film. The film will be a prequel to the two films done by Chase in the 80s.

"Zach is perfect for the role," Lawrence said in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter from his Los Angeles office, where Braff sat laughing in the background. "I'm going to use all my pull trying to make him do it.

"Zach knows I can recite the original 'Fletch' movie line for line," Lawrence said, who also has read all of Mcdonald's "Fletch" novels.
