Fmr. President Bush Endorses McCain
Former President George H. W. Bush has endorsed Sen. John McCain for the next President of the United States.
The announcement was made Monday, and appears to be an effort to show that the party establishment, which has been extremely critical of McCain, is uniting behind the McCain campaign.
McCain has been heavily criticized by the hardcore conservatives, most notably radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, for not being conservative enough while in the Senate. The problems many have with the Arizona Senator is that he has acted as somewhat of a maverick, and, Limbaugh says, does not stick to the conservative values the Republican party holds in such high regard.
Former President Bush's endorsement seems to put the final nail in the coffin of Mike Huckabee, which has plenty of nails in it already. Huckabee, it seems to many experts, is looking to parlay his success thus far in his campaign into a Vice Presidential nomination by staying in the race.
Senator McCain figures to move two steps closer to reaching the number of delegates needed to earn the Republican nomination when primaries in both Hawaii and Wisconsin are held Tuesday night.
