The independent film distributor Focus Features announced their slate of early 2012 releases, which includes three films that star actors like Paul Dano, Robert De Niro, Steve Carell, Bruce Willis and Bill Murray.
Indiewire reports that the first release is About A Boy director Paul Weitz’s Being Flynn, a father-son drama starring Dano as a writer who tries to reconnect with his estranged father played by De Niro after his mother, played by Julianne Moore, dies. It will hit select cities on March 2.
Next up is Seeking a Friend at the End of the World, directed by Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist screenwriter Lorene Scafaria. It is a sci-fi comedy with Carell and Keira Knightley and gets a wide release on April 20, according to Comingsoon.net.
Wes Anderson’s new film Moonrise Kingdom is set for a limited release on May 25. The film is set in the 1960s off the coast of New England, where a young boy and girl fall in love. Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward, both new actors, star as the couple. Willis appears as the town sheriff and Edward Norton is a camp leader. Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand and Anderson regulars Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray are also in the cast. Anderson co-wrote the film with Roman Coppola.
Focus also announced that they will release Dee Rees’ Pariah, Sam Fell and Chris Butler's animated ParaNorman, Roger Miller’s Hyde Park on Hudson and an adaptation of Anna Karenina by Joe Wright. Finally, Focus will also release Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
