The Foo Fighters will take part in their first television performance of “Walk,” the next single off their seventh studio album Wasting Light, at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards.

The performance will mark the band’s first appearance at the Movie Awards since 2005, MTV News confirms. While they are known for creating innovative music videos, they have also earned a reputation as one of the music industry’s most captivating live acts.

Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz, who will take the stage together for “Out of My Head” before the Chicago-born hip-hop artist performs the platinum single “The Show Goes On,” were announced as performers last Thursday.

The star-studded lineup of musical acts featured at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards is expected to grow in the coming weeks, but there is no word at this time as to who will join Fiasco, Songz, and the Foo Fighters.

Many high-profile stars are set to hand out Golden Popcorn trophies as presenters, including Steve Carell, Cameron Diaz, Jesse Eisenberg, Selena Gomez, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Leighton Meester, Danny McBride, Nicki Minaj, Jason Segel, and Emma Stone.

The 2011 MTV Movie Awards will be held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California on Sunday, June 5.
