Former "American Idol" Finalist Faces a Judge for Possession of Cocaine
Former American Idol finalist Jessica Sierra faced the judge Monday morning after being arrested for possession of cocaine and battery. During her court hearing in Tampa, Florida, Sierra's attorney pleaded with the judge on the grounds that Sierra is a pregnant addict who needs help.
According to TMZ, the judge agreed to cut Sierra a deal with the assistance of Dr. Drew, from the show Loveline. Instead of facing jail time, Sierra was sentenced to three years probation and one year in Dr. Drew's California treatment center. If she does not complete the treatment successfully, she must return to jail.
The judge expressed his feelings about celebrities who make news because of their drug involvement. He stated Sierra will not become a celebrity because she is a recovering addict and she needs to be treated like everyone else. Probation and rehab are an attempt for this troubled American Idol finalist to get her life straightened out.
