Former Beatles Visible on Pop Charts

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison are all, in one form or another, visible on the charts right now.

In a rather surprising coincidence, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison all, in different ways, have a strong presence on the pop charts right now. McCartney stayed at No.3 for the second week in a row with his new album, Memory Almost Full; George Harrison is visible in the form of a reissue of the two albums by The Traveling Wilburys, a supergroup that included Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and Roy Orbison (the reissue entered the charts at No.9); and the new charity album Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur, which consists entirely of John Lennon covers performed by artists like U2, Green Day, and Big & Rich, debuted at No.15. In Britain, the Beatles nostalgia is likely to be even more extreme: the Traveling Wilburys reissue debuted at No.1, McCartney fell to No.10 and a Lennon album called Lennon Legend: The Very Best Of opened at No.30. (The charity album has not yet opened there).
