Natalie Portman, 29, is expecting her first child with Black Swan choreographer and fiancé Benjamin Millepied, but one news host and former governor is blasting the Academy Award winner for being pregnant out of wedlock.

Us Weekly reports, former Arkansas governor and Fox News host Mike Huckabee told radio host Michael Medved on Monday that Portman is glamorizing the idea of children born out of wedlock.

"People see a Natalie Portman who boasts, 'We're not married but we're having these children and they're doing just fine. I think it gives a distorted image. It's unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out-of- wedlock children,” he said.

Huckabee went on to call Portman’s pregnancy “troubling” due to the fact that she would be able to have hired help when needed while most single mothers wouldn’t.

"Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can't get a job, and if it weren't for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have health care," he said. "And that's the story that we're not seeing."

Huckabee and Michael Medved, also responded to Portman’s comment during her Oscar acceptance speech where she thanked Millepied for "the most important role" in her life. Medved added, he "didn't give her the most wonderful gift [first], which would be a wedding ring!"

Despite criticisms, Portman has expressed she is eager to accept the unknown and her pregnancy has helped her realize what is really important. At the Oscars she said, "One of the most exciting things about being pregnant is that I'm accepting the complete unknown. It's a complete mystery and miracle. It's really just accepting that I have no idea, which is what all of us live every day."

She added that pregnancy has helped to find "where your meaning is, what is actually important in the midst a lot of shiny stuff that is more superficial."
