Former Illinois Governor to be Indicted Today

It is anticipated that Blagojevich will be indicted today by a federal grand jury in Chicago.

The U.S. attorney's office is expecting a court filing later today for former Governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, according to The Washington Post.

Blagojevich was arrested on Dec. 9 for a number of felony charges. He was accused of attempts to force campaign funds from business executives and allegedly sought contracts with Illinois, trying to sell the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by President Obama in a reported involvement in conspiracy. He allegedly tried to commit mail and wire fraud.

Blagojevich pleaded innocent to the charges. He would not testify when the Illinois legislature impeached him from office. There will be no court appearance today and no press conference by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald.

Blagojevich said on his Chicago radio show that he was "hijacked out of office" by his political enemies. Pat Quinn took Blagojevich's position as governor of Illinois.
