Former President Bush to Endorse McCain

MSNBC reports Arizona Senator John McCain plans to travel to Texas on Monday and meet with former President George H. W. Bush, where he is expected to endorse McCain.

McCain would not confirm the possible endorsement, but said, "I've had the pleasure of knowing and working for him as President for many years, and I'm going to meet with him on Monday. I'm going to fly to Houston and have a meeting with him and it's always a pleasure to be in his company."

Despite the current President's low popularity, McCain stated recently on The Larry King Show that he would be happy if the President campaigned with him, according to the Los Angeles Times.

McCain said, "I would be proud to have President Bush campaign with me and support me in any way that he feels is appropriate. And I would appreciate it."

According to the Washington Post, the current President Bush has not formally endorsed McCain, but has offered to help bring together conservatives if McCain does become the Republican nominee.

The former President's endorsement comes after McCain won the support of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Rudy Giuliani, and most recently his ex-rival, Mitt Romney.
