Former "SNL" Cast Member to Replace Conan O'Brien
Before Conan O'Brien has even had a chance to leave the building, Reuters is reporting that Jimmy Fallon will be replacing him.
O'Brien is slated to take over The Tonight Show in 2009, leaving his chair open at Late Night. NBC has signed a deal with the former Saturday Night Live cast member, Fallon, to fill that chair. NBC is expected to make an announcement in mid-May, about Fallon taking over, to advertisers of the show.
Fallon was a cast member on Saturday Night Live for six seasons and was widely popular as an anchor on its "Weekend Update" sketch. He left the show in 2004 to pursue a movie career, but since that has not panned out, it seems he is going to try his turn at late night TV hosting.
What will happen to Jay Leno, The Tonight Show's current host is unknown, now that NBC has made it obvious that he will not be staying. It has been rumored that ABC and Fox are both looking at him to possibly host late night shows for their networks.
