Fox's Glee: Pilot
By its very definition, Glee is about opening yourself up to joy and that is exactly what Fox's "Glee" does to its audience. Created by Ryan Murphy, also known for the TV shows "Nip/Tuck" and "Popular," "Glee" is a heartfelt musical comedy that follows Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), an overly optimistic high school teacher that has a dream of transforming the high school's glee club into National champions.
Will wants to take what he knows and has experienced in glee club to make something of the students that feel like losers.
Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) makes sure to sign up for the club and, of course, puts a gold star next to her name to let people know that she is metaphorically a star. She refuses to continue in the club if Will does not find a singer that is as equally talented as she is to keep up with her. Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) later joins the club to remain on the football team after mistakenly being caught with drugs.
The club takes a field trip to Carmel High School to watch Vocal Adrenaline, their number one competition. They come out singing "Rehab" by Rihanna and take over the stage.
While things seem to be coming together at the high school, Will finds that his marital problems are taking a toll on him. When he finds out later that his wife is carrying their first child; he finds it necessary to quit his job to "provide" for the family. With help from his fellow teacher Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays), he decides that "the only life worth living is the one you're passionate about."
He walks in on the new and motivated glee club practicing Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" with new costumes, choreography, and attitudes. Will is pleasantly surprised and the show ends with him implying that he is back for good.
Look for the rest of the season, coming this fall on Fox!
