Fraser gets "Furry" for upcoming laffer
Brendan Fraser is set to star in "Furry Vengeance," a live-action family comedy that will begin production by early summer.
According to an article in Variety magazine, "Fraser will play a real estate developer whose new housing subdivision pushes far into a pristine part of the Oregon wilderness, pitting the developer against a hand of angry critters."
Co-financing as well as co-producing the film are Summit Entertainment and Participant Media, which makes this their first alliance since the announcement of a multiple distribution deal last week.
The Variety article also mentions people who are making the project a reality such as "Roger Kumble will direct... Robert Simonds will produce with Keith Goldberg. Script was penned by Michael Carnes and Josh Gilbert, who wrote 'Mr. Woodcock' together."
As for Kumble's credits, he recently directed the 2008 Martin Lawrence comedy "College Road Trip" and the 2005 Ryan Reynolds comedy "Just Friends."
But don't for a second think that the studios are putting their proverbial eggs in one basket. Summit is working on "New Moon," the sequel to the smash vampire flick "Twilight," and Paramount is teaming up with Overture on a remake of a George Romero motion picture entitled "The Crazies" which begins shooting in March.
