Fraud Does Not Equal Gay

Kenny Chesney finally reveals the truth about the gay rumors.

Country Singer Kenny Chesney finally opens up about the "gay" comments that have been swarming around him, ever since his marriage with actress Renee Zellweger ended just four months after they were married, back in 2005.

The ex-couple marked "fraud" as their reasoning for divorce, which they thought would make things easier on them, and not have millions of unwanted rumors spread about their split. However, even though the word "fraud" is very broad, it made people think there was "fraud" in his sexuality.

"The only fraud that was committed was me thinking that I knew what it was like...that I really understood what it was like to be married, and I really didn't. We thought the least harmful (stated reason) was fraud because it (is) kind of broad...doesn't specify (the reason for the separation). And boy...we were wrong!"

Chesney has no regrets on the marriage, even if it didn't last for even five months. He might have regretted, however, not announcing to the world he wasn't gay, to clear some things up. "It's not true. Period. Maybe I should have come out and said, 'No, I'm not (gay),' but I didn't want to draw any more attention to it. I didn't have to prove to anybody that I wasn't (gay)."
