Janet Hubert, who played Aunt Vivian on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, was missing at the reunion dinner that Will Smith and other cast members of the hit sitcom attended last month. Hubert says she had a good reason for not being there, revealing that she just does not like the Men in Black III star.
In an interview with TMZ, Hubert said Tuesday that there would never be a full cast reunion, “as I will never do anything with an a**hole like Will Smith.”
Hubert is still annoyed with Smith over her firing from the show, which she left in 1993. She believes that Smith is still an “egomaniac” who “has not grown up. This constant reunion thing will never ever happen in my lifetime unless there is an apology, which he doesn't know the word."
People reports that Hubert was replaced by Daphne Reid for the last three years of the show. Hubert continues to believe that she was let go because she would not kiss up to him.
At the time, Smith told an Atlanta radio station that Hubert was mad during the entire time she was on the show, refuting her claim. “She said once, 'I've been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.' No matter what, to her I'm just the Anti-Christ,” Smith said.
According to Necolebitchie.com, a few years ago, Alfonso Ribeiro, who did attend the recent cast reunion, said that Hubert made it difficult for everyone on the show to continue working. “She, at that point, ruined that and made it very difficult for us to work. They brought in Daphne Maxwell who we absolutely loved and we moved on. Oh well,” Ribeiro said.
