The Future of Conan O'Brien
MTV News Breaks Down the Late-Night Comics Five Options
Isabel Betancourt
Conan O'Brien, who hosted Late Night for 16 years, thought he was going to be Jay Leno's successor and take the Tonight Show into the next decade with the same level of success as Leno and Johnny Carson. Only NBC's brilliant attempt at "host musical chairs" has led the comedian with five options, and according to him: "This level of sh-tiness was not expected."
It seems after meeting with NBC execs over the poor ratings both he and Leno's shows have accrued since the swap, the quirky-comic has been given five options:
- Launch a new show on FOX
- Return to Saturday Night Live
- Write a memoir
- Do a reality show
- Stay put and continue hosting the Tonight Show.
If worst comes to worst, maybe The Simpsons will take him on again...

I am sick of hearing about
I am sick of hearing about all of this... let's go on with whatever is going to happen, eh?
Only half Conan's list
Where's the rest of David Letterman's top ten list? There are only five here....
Conan O'Brien
Perhaps the link to greater audiences was having the contrast of the Leno show followed by the O'Brien show, and now that it's not a novelty this bond isn't strong enough anymore. However, of course,
NBC officials should stay true to their word(s).
