Future of Paula Abdul's Post-"Idol" Career Still Uncertain

Speculation and possibilities are still running rampant in the wake of Abdul's exit from "American Idol."

After leaving "American Idol," former judge Paula Abdul's future career is still very much up in the air. Part of the problem seems to be Abdul's high demands.

She reportedly walked away from "Idol" because the producers wouldn't agree to her $10 million a year fee and, more recently, a deal to appear on ABC's "Ugly Betty" fell through. According to MSNBC, part of the problem was Abdul's demands of a private jet, among other things. The former Laker girl was set to play the role of Helen, an office temp at Mode magazine. The now-recurring role has been given to Emmy-winning "3rd Rock" actress Kristen Johnston.

Rumored talks with the popular show, "Dancing with the Stars," have also failed to come to fruition. Despite speculation that the cause was Adbul's desire to be able to return to "Idol" at a moment's notice, the San Francisco Chronicle reports that her manager, David Sonenberg, has made is clear there are no talks underway.

"I think in some ways she was typecast in Idol and she was kind of restricted from doing anything she wanted to do and now she's free to decide," Sonenberg said. "She really is very excited about the future and that there's support for her."

According to MTV.com, Abdul is now considering developing her own talent show with ABC.
