Game 1 of World Series Draws High Ratings

Game 1 of the World Series earned the highest ratings since 2004.

Ratings for Game 1 of the World Series went up 29 percent, according to MLB.com.

Fans tuned in to watch the matchup between 2007 AL Cy Young Award winner CC Sabathia of the New York Yankees and 2008 AL Cy Young Award winner Cliff Lee of the Philadelphia Phillies.

ESPN reports that Wednesday night's ratings were the highest game 1 ratings for the World Series since 2004, when the Boston Red Sox faced the St. Louis Cardinals. The game earned an 11.9 fast national rating and a 19 share.

The Phillies defeated the Yankees Wednesday night, 6-1.
