Garth Brooks Concert To Assist Victims of California Wildfires
The Mercury News reports the "Garth Brooks Live in LA!" concert will be donating all proceeds to the Southern California 2008 Fire Intervention Relief Effort (F.I.R.E), to benefit the victims and firefighters from the deadly 2007 wildfires.
The price for tickets was $41 and they were sold out within one hour. The first portion of the show was broadcast live on CBS and allowed for viewers at home to make a donation to F.I.R.E.
There was also a short feature about San Diego firefighter Brooke Linman, who was badly burned in last year's fire.
According to the Los Angeles Times, during his performance, Brooks was about to dispose of his guitar when he looked down at Linman in the front row and said, "Miss Brooke, would you like this guitar by any chance?"
Brooks had two shows on Friday and three on Saturday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, with only about an hour in between each performance. The show also featured his wife, Trisha Yearwood and rock singer Huey Lewis.
