Gatorade Drops Tiger Woods

No long will sponser the disgraced golfer.

Gatorade officially dropped Tiger Woods from its advestising Friday, citing that they "no longer see a role for Tiger in our marketing efforts."

Gatorade is the third company to drop Tiger Woods, after Accenture PLC and AT&T. Tiger last week made a public apology for his sex scandal. At the end of last year Gatorade dropped its Tiger Woods based Tiger Focus sports drink, however this occurred before the scandal broke and the company states that it was an unrelated occurrence.

Gatorade said of Tiger, "We wish Tiger well as he works through these private matters." The company also said that they will continue their partnership with the Tiger Woods Foundation, a nonprofit organization that funds the Tiger Woods Learning Center located in Anaheim, California.

Tiger is currently attended rehabilitation for his sex addiction, and is on a self-imposed break from the PGA. Companies that still endorse Woods, including Proctor & Gamble, have continued their sponsorship but limited his role in their ad campaigns. Nike, Upper Deck Co., and Electronic Arts stated Friday that their relationship with Tiger has not changed.
