Gawker posts Brian Williams's negative rant about Lana Del Rey

Brian Williams is probably going to develop some trust issues from this point forth.

Gawker posted an email he sent to the site’s chief, Nick Denton, blasting Lana Del Rey’s recent Saturday Night Live performance.

In the message, the Nightly News and Rock Center called her January 14th performance “one of the worst outings in SNL history.”

NBC obviously wasn’t too pleased with that.

According to Reuters, the network’s PR team was on high alert, searching the web for any mentions of Williams’ statements.

NBC also told Gawker that “(the email) was sent in confidence as friends and absolutely never intended to be public. A speedy removal would go a long way in maintaining the trust and respect we have for your site.” That comment clearly went to the wayside, as Gawker promptly posted the statement next to Williams’ words.

Of course the news veteran’s opinion wasn’t out of the blue, after all, several other high profile news writers, such as Perez Hilton, have published their negative opinions about the singer.

“Just watched SNL. Not only was @LanaDelRey vocally WAY off, but watching her utter lack of stage presence was cringe-worthy. #DontBuyTheHype,” Hilton tweeted.

The fact that SNL airs on the same network as Williams’ newscasts makes his comments a little more damaging than others’.

Good thing Del Rey wasn't singing when Williams hosted the show.
