It was reported that Oprah was the godmother of Beyonce and Jay-Z’s newborn Blue Ivy.

When the “Crazy in Love” singer’s rep was reached for a comment, they had declined. However, The Oprah Winfrey Show host’s best friend, Gayle King, cleared up the rumor on Friday during CBS’ Morning Show.

"It's absolutely not true that she's the godmother," King said on air, Us Magazine reports. "She's friends with them, of course, and likes them both very much. She's working on sending them a baby gift. She hasn't even had time to send a baby gift because she's been away."

She added, "Let me just say, if (that report is) true, it is news to her. It is news to her. You know, she was heading to South Africa when the baby was born."

Considering that it’s known that Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Coldplay frontman Chris Martin are very close friends with new parents Beyonce and Jay-Z, comedienne Kathy Griffin tweeted "R u fing kidding me??? Oprah is Blue Ivy's godmother???" adding, “Gwyneth must b PISSED."

CBS News reports that Blue Ivy Carter was born on January 7, 2012.

Since then, Beyonce’s Destiny’s Child collaborator and childhood friend Kelly Rowland has said of Blue "She's absolutely beautiful!" she told E! News "And I say that with such a huge grin! I'm so excited."
