George Clooney has occasionally been discussed as a possible Democratic candidate, but the actor revealed his reasoning behind not running for office during a recent interview.

“I didn’t live my life in the right way for politics,” Clooney told Newsweek. “I f----- too many chicks and did too many drugs, and that’s the truth.”

The Up in the Air star insisted that politicians should come clean with details of their scandalous behavior before attempting to achieve political aspirations.

“[A shrewd politician] would start from the beginning by saying, ‘I did it all. I drank the bong water. Now let’s talk about issues,’” Clooney joked, according to People. “That’s gonna be my campaign slogan: ‘I drank the bong water.’”

The notorious womanizer, who is currently dating Italian model Elisabetta Canalis, admitted to using his celebrity to sway the media and admiring Bono’s ability to draw attention to issues in Africa.

“Celebrity can help focus news media where they have abdicated their responsibility,” Clooney said. “Bono’s model really worked. There is more attention on celebrity than ever before – and there is a use for that besides selling products.”

Clooney, a presenter at the 83rd Academy Awards this Sunday, also praised unidentified young actors in the industry for being knowledgeable about a particular cause, sharing their passion with fans, and becoming involved.
