George Clooney, MTV Plan Haitian Relief Telethon

MTV will team up with George Clooney to present a telethon that will rally support and raise money for Haiti, a country that was recently hit with a destructive 7.0 earthquake.

Clooney will appear in a bi-coastal telethon and fundraiser that will air on all MTV Networks, and all the proceeds from the telethon will go towards relief efforts in Haiti.

As well as participating in the telethon, MTV has put together a list of organizations that are providing donations and relief services on the island. The list includes the American Red Cross and Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti to UNICEF.

“I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse. We must act now,” Jean wrote on his web site.

George Clooney and MTV’s telethon will air on all MTV networks on Jan. 22.
